Rovers gear up for Blackbrook
WOOLSTON Rovers entertain Blackbrook in the Hattons Solicitors National Conference League Division Three this coming Saturday.
Rovers will be looking to build on a promising start to the season that has seen them record two successive victories but know that they will need to be at their best against the St. Helens based side who are highly fancied to be up at the top end of the table at the end of the campaign.
Head Coach Mike Grady said after the Peterlee game: “That was the type of game that we just wanted to get through without picking up any injuries.
"The conditions were absolutely horrible and it was touch and go as to whether the game would go ahead but thankfully it did and we came through it unscathed and got a convincing win into the bargain.
"We approached the game in a very professional manner and the lads got the job done really well.”
Grady added: “We will now get ourselves ready for what promises to be a mouth-watering fixture against Blackbrook.
"They are a quality outfit who will come to us in confident mood following a Challenge Cup success last weekend against Oulton Raiders, that followed an opening game victory over Hindley but I have every confidence in my players that we will be able to put in a performance that will be good enough to get the right result.
"The way that the lads have knuckled down in training has been brilliant and that is showing out on the field. The competition for places is really intense; there are plenty of lads in the ‘A’ team who are playing really well which gives me a great selection headache.”
Kick off is 2.30pm at Monks Sports Club, Hillock Lane, Woolston. Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
