7:10am Monday 11th March 2013 in Sport
DIVISION One in Warrington Snooker League is getting too close to call after a 56 break by Steve Critchley helped second place Newton Social "B" beat leaders Richmonds "A" and are now only one point behind.
Third place Irlam Cons beat Roosters "C" 6-1 helped by Paul Oliver's 42 break along with Keith Veldhoven chipping in with a break of 39.
A 32 break by John Ettinger was not enough for relegation threatened Monks "A" as Alford "D" won 5-2 with Mark Taylor having a 37 break for the winners.
Division Two is between three teams with Rylands "A" closing to within one point of the lead after they beat G.T.B.L. "B" 5-2 and they have played one game less than the leaders.
G.E.S.M. "B" lost ground in third place after losing 5-2 at Walkers "B" and are now six points adrift but the result moves Walkers away from the relagation places.
St Benedicts have as good as won Division Three after beating Culcheth Sports "A" 7-0 and now lead by eleven points from Woolston "B" who were surprisingly beaten 4-3 at home by Kings Club "B" and are now looking over their shoulders at Penketh Tavern "B" who won 6-1 at Deaf Social "B" and are six points behind but have the game in hand.
James Short didn't have a break in his frame this week but in the Individual Handicap Competition he had a break of 93 in winning his match to progress to the Quarter Finals.
