Jamie’s national title shot ended
9:30am Thursday 28th February 2013 in Sport
JAMIE Aramayo’s National Schoolboy title pursuit has ended for another year after he tasted defeat in the semi final stage against current National Champion Mark Jeffers of Chorley ABC.
The 14-year-old Phoenix Fire Club boxer showed tremendous courage against his taller opponent, scoring throughout to prove he has earned his place as a top four contender in the country.
The bout was evenly balanced going into the third round with Jeffers marginally ahead, and despite digging in deep and scoring with his ‘hit and move’ approach, Aramayo could not quite do enough to swing the decision in his favour.
His next bout will be at the Phoenix Fire Club Show against the current Welsh Schoolboy champion at the Halliwell Jones Stadium today, Thursday.
