Lymm Ladies 5
Sale Ladies 2
LYMM needed a good result following their defeat to second-place rivals Timperley the previous week and they delivered in style against a strong Sale team.
Sale started brightly but the table toppers soon started to wrestle control back in their favour as the first half went on, typified by Jane Buck’s opening strike.
The visitors levelled almost immediately, but a late series of corners offered captain Lisa Hartley-Woodrow the chance to put her side back in front on the stroke of half time.
Sale dragged themselves level again with 15 minutes remaining, but goals from Hollie Acklam, two and Nat Riley ensured Lymm remain five points clear in Cheshire Women’s League Division One.
Stafford Ladies 0
Lymm Ladies 1
LYMM’S Women’s Vase match proved to be a tight affair, though Lymm took the lead mid-way through the second half once Lisa Hartley Woodrow had slotted in from a penalty corner.
Down to nine players due to some stringent refereeing, Lymm withstood a late Stafford flurry thanks to solid defence from Alex Mitchell and Amy Heywood to reach the quarter-final stage.
