Brough’s fine form continues, Evans takes overall title

A TRIO of Warrington Athletics Club runners raced to victory in the final round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League at Woodbank Park in Stockport on Sunday.
Great Britain international Katie Brough continued her fine form to win the senior women’s race in 31mins 54secs, 42 seconds clear of the silver medallist.
Sam Evans romped to his fourth successive win in the under 11s event, taking the overall title in style with a first-place finish in 9mins 43secs.
Ben Harrison finished fifth in 10mins 21secs and was also fifth in the overall competition.
Following them in was Jordan Jones, seventh in 10mins 24secs, and Ben O’Leary, 39th in 12mins 37secs.
Jack Stubbings crossed the line first in the under 13s boys’ section in 12mins 17secs. Luke Gamble’s excellent return from injury earned him 10th spot in 12mins 48secs.
There were fine runs from under 11s girls’ runners Mary Knowles, 21st in 10mins 24secs, India Hayes, 41st in 11mins 26secs, and Charlotte Stokes, 45th in 11mins 35secs.
