Warrington stars win in the snow

SNOW flurries across the north west did not stop the usual suspects from securing a fine result for Warrington Athletics Club during the fourth round of the McCain Cross Challenge at Blackwater Fields, in Cardiff, on Sunday.

Three Warrington athletes braved the icy conditions to record two wins and a fifth-place finish, with under 11s supremo Sam Evans continuing his domination of the age group with a third series victory, this time in 6mins 53secs.

He was followed home by Ben Harrison, who finished an excellent fifth with a time of 7mins 27secs.

Like Sam, Harriet Knowles-Jones has been in fine form this season and secured her third victory of the series in the under 15 girls' category with a time of 11mins 24secs.

The win puts Harriet in pole position to win the series overall, though there are double points on offer at the final race of the season, the Inter County Championships in March.
