Knutsford Ladies 0 Lymm Ladies 5

LYMM struggled to get going in this Cheshire Women’s League Division One match, but eventually blew off the cobwebs to walk away with a convincing 5-0 defeat of their hosts.

The win stretched Lymm's impressive record of 13 wins in 14 matches, a sequence that leaves them sat comfortably at the top of the standings with a five-point gap to second-placed Timperley.

It was Lymm's final ball that let them down against hard-working Knutsford in the opening 35 minutes, and it was only thanks to an excellent reaction save and clearance from Amy Heywood in goal that kept the game level at half time.

A stern team talk from captain Lisa Hartley-Woodrow saw the away side come out firing and hit three quick goals; Megan Mousdale forcing the ball in after excellent work from Grace Boardman, Hartley-Woodrow finding the roof of the net from a tight angle and Nat Riley smashing in a reverse hit strike from the top of the D.

From a penalty corner Hollie Acklam reverse swept in a fourth goal, before adding a fifth from Woodrow-Hartley's rebounded effort.
