WARRINGTON Athletics Club celebrated two victories in the fourth round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League on Sunday.

Of the 12 members runners taking part at Boggart Hole Clough, it was the familiar faces of Sam Evans and Cameron Field who claimed victory in their respective races with the former winning the under 11s boys’ race in 9mins 12secs.

He was followed across the line by teammates Ben Harrison, sixth, and seventh-placed Jordan Jones, reversing their positions from the Cheshire County AA Cross Country Championships the previous weekend.

Together they earned the team a second-place finish.

Field won the under 17s boys' race in impressive fashion clocking 20mins 29secs, with Chris Fance ninth in 23mins 13secs.

Daniel Fox earned the next highest finish, completing the course in 14mins 6secs to earn third in the under 13s boys’ race, while in the senior men's race Dominic Mahon was the only club runner, placing an excellent fifth in 38mins 15secs.

The under 11s girls’ team finished ninth, led home by Lucia Meloni in 11th place with 6mins 21secs.

She was chased to the line by Mary Knowles, 27th in 6mins 50secs, and India Hayes, 45th in 7mins 26secs, Charlotte Stokes completing Warrrington’s contingent in 51st place in a time of 7mins 36secs.
