JUDY Brown ended 2012 at the summit of the Great Britain rankings.

The Warrington Dolphins Long Distance Swimming Club competitor clocked 4mins 55.35secs to go top of the charts for 400m freestyle in the 45-49 years category.

For Brown, the current British masters record holder who was ranked fifth in the world in the event in 2011, it brought one of six gold medals from six races in the final event of the 2012 British Masters swimming calendar.

Her swim in the 100m individual medley was the fastest time across all the age groups in the South Yorkshire Masters at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

She also enjoyed success in the 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, and 100m freestyle.

Graeme Atherton, formerly of Warriors of Warrington and returning to competitive swimming after a long absence, had two impressive swims.

He claimed two silver medals in the 35-39 years age group, coming in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle events with excellent times of 28.59secs and 58.87secs respectively.
