Lymm Ladies 2 Golborne Ladies 0

LYMM Ladies stretched their lead at the top of the Cheshire Womens’ Division One without ever hitting top gear, earning their 10th consecutive win despite a host of missed chances in the first half.

Fittingly it was captain Lisa Hartley-Woodrow who stepped up to lead Lymm to yet another victory, deservedly earning the player of the game award for her match-winning brace after the break.

Warrington 1 University of Liverpool 2nd

WARRINGTON’S men produced arguably their best performance of the North West Hockey Division Six North season to keep third-placed University of Liverpool scoreless.

The narrow victory, and the team's first clean sheet of the season, was thanks to Noal Phillpotts’ vital goal line clearance as well as the heroic defending of keeper Roger Parr and his back four of Richard Taylor, Ed Jones, Geoff Stott and Tim Rothwell.

The game looked like ending as a stalemate until 10 minutes from time, when Steve Worrall found space in the opposition area and scored with a rocket reverse stick finish.

Warrington Ladies 6 Runcorn Ladies 1

WARRINGTON ended the 2012’s fixtures in style with a heavy defeat of visitors Runcorn to move up to fifth in the Cheshire Women’s Division Two.

An Emma Bartlett strike kept the scores level at 1-1 heading into the break, but it was in the second half that the hosts showed their quality.

A brace from the excellent Steph Lace led the Warrington team from the front, and goals from Marian Taig, Sarah Gregson and a second for Bartlett secured a confidence boosting win before the Christmas break.
