GREENALLS Padgate St Oswalds fell to eighth in the Cheshire Football Division One table after a frustrating 4-3 defeat to bogey team Middlewich Town at Seddon Street.
PSO had previously gone four matches unbeaten in all competitions, but defeat will not dent their hopes too much, as they remain only five points off third-place Denton, having played fewer games that many of the teams in between.
Manager Dave Bush was frustrated with his side’s defending after they let slip a 1-0 lead at the break.
“We didn’t come out in the second half, we just sat on our laurels and got what we deserved,” he said.
“Some of the goals we conceded were schoolboy, we’ve got to bounce back, have a reaction.”
Greenalls take a break from league action with a home game against Daten in the Presidents Cup on Saturday, kick off 1.30pm.
Former Middlewich player Jon Shakeshaft was at the heart on Greenalls’ first half performance, but it was Ben Slater that ultimately made the breakthrough just before the break, his fine curling lob leaving the Witches’ keeper stranded.
Unfortunately for Bush and his side they could not keep up their performance after the restart, and Craig Millington twice equalised for Middlewich before Kyle Wilding and O’Sullivan adding strikes that cancelled out PSO goals from Lee Hughes, two.
