Lymm's hockey women lead the way with victory at Northop

LYMM kept pace with Cheshire Women's League Division One leaders Timperley thanks to a confident 3-0 victory at Northop Hall.

Nat Riley's superb intercept and dribble handed Helen Weston an empty net early on and Lymm never looked back against hosts that proved difficult to break down.

But break them down Lymm did, adding further goals from Lisa Hartley-Woodrow and Grace Boardman to secure an eighth win from nine games.

Four different scorers helped Lymm ladies’ seconds maintain their lead at the top of Cheshire League Division Two.

Sally Bircham opened the scoring, followed by efforts from Clare Ellis, Elly Davy and Katy Arber to ensure visitors Deeside seconds’ goal was merely a consolation.

A team display earned Lymm men’s thirds a first win in four games.

Strikers Tom Drury and John Whitmore shared the goals in a 2-1 victory against Deeside sevenths.

Lymm’s Badgers suffered at the hands of Deeside, falling to a second half strike from a corner routine.
