LYMM completed a fine weekend with a brilliant win against Premier Division side Bowdon Hightown in the Cheshire Cup.

Bowdon left their Great Britain players at home and Lymm struck with the crucial opener after a tight start, Helen Weston finishing off Alex Pepper and Lynne Pyman’s move.

Hollie Acklam netted from close range to secure progression to the semi finals.

AN early goal from Megan Mousdale meant Lymm settled into Saturday’s Cheshire Division One game early and never relinquished the initiative.

A second from Mousdale was added to further goals from Nat Riley, two, player of the match Lisa Hartley-Woodrow, Hollie Acklam, two, and Jane Buck.

WARRINGTON returned empty handed from their longest away trip of the season in North West Men’s Hockey League Division Six North.

New arrival Steve Worrall scored from a mazy dribble to level matters at 2-2 after Ian Sleigh had halved the deficit.

However, Carlisle doubled their lead again before Tim Rothwell scored late on.

BEN Smith did all he could to help Lymm over the line.

Smith put Carwyn Nash through to level the scores, before sending captain Jonny Ireland through to earn Lymm a 2-1 lead at the break.

But the tiring Lymm defence conceded an equaliser with five minutes remaining.
