FOUR cherry trees have been planted outside a Culcheth pub in memory of four popular and much-loved villagers who have died in recent years.

Family members and friends of Bill Billy Flag' Preston, Katie Henry, Paul Robbo' Robinson and Dustin Stevens attended the ceremony outside The Harrow, in Church Lane, on Saturday.

Landlord of the Harrow Wayne Bibby said: "It will improve the look and I thought that if you are going to do something like that, it should be done with meaning."

The four trees will blossom with different coloured flowers at slightly different times of the year.

Jean Preston, whose husband Billy died 18 months ago at the age of 75, said: "Everyone loved him to bits.

"This was his watering hole. It's nice that the trees are here forever."
