A REFUGE for fish and wildlife is being built in Rixton.
Environment Agency officers have planted native reeds, aquatic plants and trees at the site by the Mersey.
They hope that building the safe haven will boost fish numbers, create a more sustainable river fishery and attract other wildlife.
When it is finished in August the refuge will be 95 metres long and 3.2 metres deep.
