THIEVES pushed their way into a pensioner's home before opening her Christmas cards and stealing cash.

Police say the woman, who is in her 70s, was at home on Sunday at 8pm in Lower Stretton when three men knocked on her door.

Not wanting to open the door to them, she opened a side window.

But the men climbed in through the window and pushed the woman out of the way.

Detectives say she is "extremely shaken" and does not want to reveal full details because of her condition.

The men, who are all in their late 20s, forced her to stay in the kitchen while they searched the house.

They stole cash from her purse and opened Christmas cards and took the money from them.

They also went through her chest of drawers, searching for more money.

The three then left in the direction of the motorway island at Stretton in a dark coloured vehicle.

Two of the men had slim faces and the other had a rounder face. They all spoke with local accents and were wearing three quarter length dark jackets.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area on Sunday night or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously.

Call DC Stuart Eales on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
