BUDDING footballers had the chance to stand where many football legends have stood before them when they were given the chance to play at the home of Everton, Goodison Park. Westbrook Old Hall Primary School’s year four football team showcased their sports skills when they secured a place in the final of the Road to Goodison tournament, which was organised by the Everton Academy. PE and school sports leader Mel Jamison said: “I was so proud of them. To get through all the rounds of the competition and get to Goodison was amazing. It was a fantastic day.” The pupils fought their way to final and even had the chance to play at Everton’s training ground Finch Farm and meet manager Roberto Martínez.

IT was all smiles for three pupils from St Gregory’s High School when they competed at the Inspire - Aspire finals on Monday at Glasgow University. Out of 52,000 who entered worldwide, year nine pupils Shauna Rogers, Jairus Patoc and Holly Saltmarsh were all selected as finalists.This year, the competition focuses on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in a bid to inspire young people. Pupils were asked to design a poster to share their vision for the future and how they would like to contribute to making this a reality. Both Shauna and Holly picked up a bronze medal for their efforts.
