Farm owner says wire fencing and concrete posts from Omega left lying about

THE Hodson family say they are ‘fed up’ of the trail of mess created by workers building on the Omega site near to their home.

Kaylea Hodson, of Joy Lane Farm, Burtonwood, has been forced to contend with heaps of building materials dumped outside her house since building work started on the development in 2012.

She also voiced her disappointment at the trees which has been planted around the family home in a bid to protect them for the sound coming from the development.

The 26-year-old said: “Dangerous wire fencing and concrete fence posts have been left lying around causing a danger on a public footpath.

“Dangers such as barbed wire, green fencing and steel rods are sticking out of the ground. A lot of people use this as a path to ride their horses.

“I dread to think what might happen if a horse spooks or a dog walker lets their dog off the lead and they get caught.

“Also, the trees they have planted are twigs and are not going to protect us from sound when the site opens.”

Kaylea said her main concern was the possibility of an accident as a result of the untidy appearance of the area and said the family are frustrated that the plans have been changed on a number of occasions.

She added: “The council don't seem to be policing the building work and because we are the only house on the road that's affected, we can't really do much on our own.

“We are all in favour of the development of the site for the jobs it will bring to the area but it shouldn't be dangerous to other people.”

Andrew Sutherland, joint managing director at Miller Developments, which is a joint shareholder in Omega Warrington Limited, said the family had been regularly informed regarding works being undertaken near their home and looked to ensure they were happy at all times.

“The work on this particular site is now virtually completed.

“Any inconvenience caused to the family throughout the construction process will imminently cease.”
