A FAILING primary in Latchford has been criticised for its action plan, which was launched in a bid to help the school step out of special measures.
St Augustine's Primary School on Henshall Avenue was flagged up by Ofsted inspectors for not outlining the necessary steps needed in certain areas which were identified as needing improvements.
As a result, education bosses at the school have been banned from appointing any newly qualified teachers before the next monitoring inspection.
The school, which was placed in special measures in June, is currently undergoing regular inspections by Ofsted.
Following a visit on September 8, it was revealed that the local authority’s statement of action is fit for purpose but school's plan is not.
But the school was praised for revisions made to the maths and English curriculum and for introducing new polices for marking, presentation and spelling.
These changes have been welcomed by its pupils.
