Gala gets revellers rocking

REVELLERS flocked to St Oswald’s Church and Winwick Primary School’s summer gala for a day of fun and games.

Stalls featuring ginger bread, lucky dip, cakes, CDs, videos, face painting and tattoos, raffle, a tombola and teddies leaping into space from the church steeple parapet, helped raise £3,000 for school and church funds.

All the teddies were blessed before their big adventure and received a certificate of bravery before the jump.

Caroline Jenkinson, one of the organisers, said: “ All of the bears survived and we were very grateful to everybody who turned out. It was a wonderful effort.”
