A CARE HOME in Burtonwood has been praised by inspectors but more work is still needed.

The Old Vicarage Nursing and Residential Care Centre, on Fir Tree Lane, was visited by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission on January 14 and 15.

Four out of the five sections, which the care home was assessed on, were noted as meeting all the standards required.

This includes treating people with respect and involving them with their care, caring for people safely and protecting them from harm, staffing and quality and suitability of management.

But the care centre was told that it needs to improve in providing care, treatment and support to meet people’s needs.

Concerns were raised by inspectors who saw a filing cupboard left open which contained care files and a bottle of cleaning product.

This meant that personal information was not always secured to ensure confidentiality and that people living at the home could be at risk if they mistook the cleaning product for a drink, the report read.
