Members hand over bags of clothes they have slimmed out of after shedding 300st

A GROUP of Grappenhall slimmers have donated the clothes they have slimmed out of to Cancer Research.

Members of the Grappenhall Slimming World group collected clothes, shoes and accessories they either no longer wanted or could not fit in to and donated them to the Warrington Cancer Research UK shop.

Kerrie Brettle, who runs the Grappenhall group which meets every Tuesday and Wednesday at the ex-Servicemen’s Club on Chester Road said her members were more than willing to donate. She said: “Members of my Grappenhall Slimming World group have really embraced this fabulous fundraising campaign and they have been more than happy to donate their ‘big’ clothes because they know that they’re never going to need them again.

“Between them members of the group have lost an amazing 300st since January and now they are looking and feeling fantastic – I’m very proud.

“One in three of us are affected by cancer and being overweight increases the risk of developing the disease, so we’re determined to do anything we can do to help fight cancer and help people lead healthier lives.

“Cancer touches so many people’s lives so most people are keen to contribute. “ Each bad could raise around £25 for the charity and with 150 bags of clothes donated, they estimate a fundraising total of £3,750.
