PUPILS from Moore Primary School's choir hit the high notes at Walton Hall and Gardens in front of more than 100 audience members.

The '1965' choir - made up from children across the school - was established in 2014 by musical director Mark Edgington.

Mr Edgington, who is head of performing arts at Priestley College, is also a parent at the school.

He joined head teacher Janet MacDonald, as well as family and friends of the pupils to watch on as the children displayed their talents.

The children also shared a special touch to Mrs MacDonald, who is retiring in July, after dedicating a song to her during the performance.

She admitted she was somewhat taken aback by the gesture and praised pupils for all their hard work.

"It was a magical evening - the children sang beautifully and the audience members were amazed by the whole evening, I was very proud of them all," she said.

Children are now set to get back to rehearsals before taking part in more performances later this year.

The school will be hosting a music evening on June 23.
