AN Appleton electrician who moved to Australia for 11 months admits he could move to the country for a long-term stay in the future after experiencing the lifestyle and job opportunities.
Tom Courtney-Smith, of Kingsbury Close, returned from Australia in July after embarking on the journey last September.
Following a three and a half year apprenticeship and finding his feet in the trade, Tom felt travelling was the right move and was pleasantly surprised during his time in the nation.
“Initially, I went there more for travelling but I soon learned just how different life out there was,” said the 23-year-old.
“It was clear to see there was a lot of opportunity for work and the lifestyle was a lot more laid back.
“Australia seems to have it all - it has the weather, the lifestyle and the scenery, it is slightly different to Warrington.”
Now working in a full-time electrician role in the north west, Tom is enjoying being back but is unsure of just what the future holds for him.
“I am really enjoying my job that I am currently in but who knows, I will never say never to moving to Australia again,” he added.
“I found that the way of life out there suited my own living style, it was a great experience.
“Day to day living is more expensive in the country but you get paid more for jobs so it doesn’t really make a difference.”
