A STOCKTON Heath bike shop teamed up with a cancer charity to organise a cycling challenge.

Wild Bikes, on London Road, worked with the Mark Gorry Foundation (MGF) to run ‘On Yer Bike Son Cycling Challenge’, where 40 cyclists took part in a 30, 60 or 100-mile cycle sportive.

Now in its fifth year, the foundation was set up to promote the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer after Mark was diagnosed with the disease and also to raise funds of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Wild Bikes joined with MGF and donated £5 from every sale of their striking Wild Bikes cycling jersey and provide spares and repairs for the cyclists taking part in the event.

Richard Wilding, from Wild Bikes, said: “It’s a privilege to work with the guys at MGF and take part in the 60 mile route, but more importantly we raised funds and awareness.”

Louise Challoner, head of fundraising, was one of 12 cyclists in the 100 mile route.

She said: “My role this time was to train and prepare for the event. It was great and allowed people of mixed abilities to take on a challenge and raise an amazing amount of money – £1,800.”
