VILLAGERS in Grapppenhall will come together on Saturday for the annual walking day celebrations.

The day starts with worship on the field at St Wilfrid’s School with church rector Rev Jane Proudfoot.

The crowd will then begin their annual walk of witness around Grappenhall village, led by Dobcross Youth Band.

Rev Proudfoot said: “This year we’re involving as many different organisations and groups in Grappenhall as possible.”

New Rose Queen Aphra Proudfoot and Rose Bud Lucy Newall will be crowned later in the day and the summer fair will be opened including refreshments, stalls and entertainment.

The day finishes with a barn dance on the school field, hosted by Grappenhall Scouts.

Tickets, priced £10, include a hot pot supper and are available from Kim Ravenscroft on 213240 or 07719 669579.
