CHILDREN at St Monica’s Catholic Primary School in Appleton made a splash during Lent by backing a campaign for clean water.
Pupils from the school, on St Monica’s Close, learnt how children in other parts of the world have trouble getting clean water while raising money for the ‘A Drop to Drink Campaign’ run by Catholic Aid for Overseas Development (Cafod).
Each pupil wrote a special water droplet message which made up part of a display and encouraged its link schools in Manchester and Malaga to do the same.
Children were photographed with their work and uploaded it to Cafod’s website. They will be delivered to 10 Downing Street before the G8 meets in May.
Sarah Harman, year four teacher, said: “St Monica’s is particularly proud of the strength of the message that is being sent and is so proud to stand together with its link schools across Europe to campaign for a better future for us all.”
