A RE-ELECTED Appleton councillor is determined to ensure the area receives a fair amount of funding to tackle issues concerning residents.

Peter Walker (LD - Appleton) edged out Conservative candidate Jonathan Levy with a 603 majority at this month's election result on May 8.

He said: "There are lots of issues I will be focusing on, some of which affect the whole of Warrington, like the state of the roads.

"With legislation passed by the coalition Government, the council can borrow money through prudential borrowing.

"I want to make sure that Appleton gets its fair share, along with other areas in the town.

"We also are focused on the local neighbourhood plan which is being developed for Appleton Thorn.

"There will be a decision by the executive board and if successful we will pursue it as local people need to influence what goes on here."

But Mr Levy insists he will remain focused on helping residents in the area, while also continuing to attend the monthly Appleton Parish Council meetings.

"It has definitely made me more determined," he said.

"I will carry on campaigning in Appleton, working to deal with issues like the Bridge Lane field and speeding."

An all-out council election will be taking place next year.
