Stage school students chosen to sing live on radio station
YOUNGSTERS from an Appleton stage school were hired to sing a surprise Valentine’s Day proposal.
The children from the Little Stars Stage School, on Dudlow Green Road, were selected for the Key 103 Surprisal which gave one lucky listener the chance to create a dream proposal for their loved one.
After a few hours of practice and early morning starts, the children began singing Bruno Mars’ hit Marry You to Rachel Hepworth, whose boyfriend Darren McLeod won the competition to get the elaborate proposal including ring and weekend trip to Paris.
Moments later the question was popped and she said ‘yes’.
Little Stars Stage School principal Lauren Kelly said: “They did so well and with such limited rehearsal time, it was absolutely amazing.
“As expected they were really nervous when they were waiting to go on knowing that they only had one chance at it.
“But it was fantastic, I am so proud of them and what they have achieved, they couldn’t have done any more.”
The youngsters overcame the added pressure of the event being broadcast live on radio, as well as restricted rehearsal time at top-secret locations.
