THIS year’s annual Bawming the Thorn needs your help.
The bawming committee is calling for extra assistance from residents to set up and run the event on Saturday, June 16.
The festival will include a procession around the village followed by the bawming ceremony, where schoolchildren sing and dance around the decorated thorn tree in the centre of the village.
The day finishes with a fair on the village hall field with traditional stalls and homemade teas.
Nora Carlin, bawming committee chairman, said: “Due to some key members leaving the area, the bawming committee needs extra help to run the event, including moving and erecting gazebos and putting out stall contents.
“Any support, however small, will be gratefully received.”
