YOUNGSTERS have already started perfecting their routines after a performing arts academy opened its doors in Appleton last month.

Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) 4-19 Warrington launched at Bridgewater High School's lower site, on Hall Drive, on January 9.

It has already been attracting a lot of interest but head of the academy Kerry Watkins is determined to continue welcoming residents, aged four to 19, through the doors.

"A lot of people have been in touch and coming in," said Kerry, who has been involved in dancing she was a child.

"We put on the taster and bring a buddy days to let people come in and enjoy themselves.

"It is about spreading the word further out of Liverpool – it is nice to offer this academy here.

"Students are currently working on a show in July, as well as exams. I just want the kids to enjoy it."

Kerry has performed at a number of West End shows and is keen to continue offering her advice and support to those involved.

LIPA was set up by Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty in 1995.

The organisation offers a range of courses covering areas including acting, community drama, dance, music theatre and entertainment management.
