PUPILS at Stockton Heath Primary School had a day to remember after swapping the classroom for an ice cream parlour last week.

A total of 60 reception pupils visited Pure Indulgence, on London Road, over four days for a tour of the parlour to get key tips ahead of setting up their own at the school, on West Avenue.

The lucky pupils also got treated to ice cream and sorbet but had to choose from 18 mouth-watering flavours, including fan-nutty-tastic - a personal favourite of store manager Helen Harvey.

Helen, a former supply teacher at the school, was impressed by the range of ideas and ambition displayed by the youngsters.

"It was great to take them through everything we have here - the pupils really enjoyed it," she said.

"They are changing their outdoor smoothie café to an ice cream parlour and so I guided them through what they would need, including the resources required to make cones.

"All of the children showed a lot of interest and just wanted to get involved."

But Helen admits there was one part of the day in particular which stood out to the children.

"I think they enjoyed trying the ice cream the most but throughout the tour they had fun," she added.

Pure Indulgence has sent out tour invitations to schools across the town so more fun-filled days for pupils can be expected soon.
