Jubilee plans for baskets and parks

3:20pm Thursday 15th March 2012

CELEBRATIONS are planned to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in Grappenhall and Thelwall.

The parish councils have been coming up with suggestions to mark the occasion in June.

This year’s spring hanging backets will be planted red, white and blue and councillors have asked pubs and clubs in the parish to do the same.

The council is also paying for new bunting to go up around the village centres.

And Euclid Park and Barley Road Park are to be renamed the Jublee Park and Diamond Park.

There will be a small naming ceremony where metal plaques will be revealed.

Other suggestions inlude handing out bookmarks, pens or badges to schools and community groups.
