AMBULANCE bosses are backing a plan to introduce allow a new community first responders group in Lymm.

As reported previously in the Warrington Guardian, campaigners are hoping a more local responder can get to a casualty faster than the current 10-and-a-half minute response time.

Campaigner Graham Gowland said: “This is great news – the scheme can make the difference between someone living or dying – it’s as simple as that.

“I’ve applied to become a responder, and I work for a brewery – if I can do it, anyone can.!”

Visit nwas-responders.info and interested applicants can e-mail janet.graham@nwas.nhs.uk with their address, stating they are interested in the Lymm CFR scheme.

Applicants will be sent a form, and interview and training will follow. All equipment and training is provided by the ambulance service, but Lymm and District Round Table has pledged £3,000 to further support the scheme.

The community scheme compleiments the existing Heartstart project, which has seen more than 15 community defibrillators placed throughout the village, with 20 now available, and has trained more than 200 people during the past year in emergency first aid with courses are held every month.
