Freshest food as well
as orchard tour on offer
at annual village bash

A COMPETITION to find the freshest produce in Lymm takes place next month.

Oughtrington Community Centre will again be the venue for the second Lymm Produce Show on September 7.

As well as taking part in the contest, or merely checking out the entries, visitors can also tour the new orchard which has been created on site.

The theme for the show is The Bugs have Landed.

And volunteers enlisted the help of the 3rd Lymm Scouts and Cubs last month to help the orchard look perfect for the event.

Lisa Reid, one of the organisers said: “They did some maintenance to make the hedge look great and built a bug hotel.

“They made some cool bugs – some we are familiar with, such as butterflies and ladybirds, whereas some are fictitious.

“We will install the bug art in the orchard in time for the produce show.”

The show runs from 2pm until 4pm with the judging of entries and awards ceremony at 3.30pm.

Categories include vegetables, fruit, flowers, cakes and children’s goodies.

And if you don’t want to take part in the contests, worry not.

Some of the produce will be auctioned off at the end of the day.

And visitors can also indulge in some tea and cakes while they are there.
