A TRAINEE teacher is having her hair shaved off to raise money for the ward that looks after her cousin.

Chloe Bedworth is raising money for Great Ormand Street hospital where 14-year-old Leo Seed, who has William's Syndrome, is cared for.

The 19-year-old, of Lawson Close, Woolston, hoped to raise £400 but has already collected more than £700 and is hoping to raise even more at a karaoke night where she will have her hair shaved on Saturday night.

"William's Syndrome means my cousin has developmental delays, cardiovascular problems and his veins are very thin and clot often, stopping blood from going to his brain," said Chloe, who is training to be a special needs teacher at Lancaster University.

"I have helped look after him since he was little and he is the reason I have decided to go into special needs teaching.

"He was cared for by Alder Hey but as his condition has deteriorated they have been able to do less and less for him so he has been going down to Great Ormond Street to have check ups.

"I know how much work they are doing for him so I wanted to try and give something back and the money I raise will be donated straight to the ward and the nurses that look after Leo."

There will also be a raffle and a bucket collection at the event at the Dog and Partridge in Chorley.

"I am bit anxious about walking around afterwards but not for the event itself. I am looking forward to it," she said.

"I do have quite short hair anyway but it will still be a big change. I have been amazed at people's generosity so far.

"Everybody that has had the pleasure of meeting Leo, I can guarantee will never forget him as he is one in a million and I cannot imagine a world without him."
