Restrictions will be brought in as part of borough wide scheme

PLANS to introduce a 20mph zone outside Twiss Green Primary School have been welcomed by Culcheth councillors.

Speed limit reductions will be enforced in Twiss Green Lane and Doeford Close to make the roads safer for pupils and their parents.

But residents will have to wait until 2015 for the changes.

Clr Les Hoyle, ward member for Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft, said he had been pressing Warrington Borough Council to bring in the 20mph zone.

The Risley resident said: “I am very pleased that the council has agreed with me that 20mph zones should be put in place in Twiss Green Lane and Doeford Close and these will be in place shortly.

“Traffic can be especially busy outside Twiss Green Primary School and a number of parents and residents have contacted me regarding the danger to children at drop off and pick up times.”

Clr Paul Campbell, from Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council, added: “These speed zones are now becoming familiar to drivers and residents especially in built up areas.

“Many families now own two and three cars so with more cars on the road I am joining with Les Hoyle in calling for 20mph zones where residents need them.”

A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said the speed limit reductions in Twiss Green Lane and Doeford Close were part of a roll out across the borough.

She said the work is expected to be completed by the highways team next year.
