AN ORFORD martial arts school has raised £6,000 for Cancer Research after training amateurs to battle it out in the boxing ring.
Cheshire Martial Arts, Orford Lane, joined Ultra White Collar Boxing to raise the cash.
It hosted an event at the Halliwell Jones last month that saw competitors with little or no boxing experience take part in 20 fights.
CMA is owned by David Jackson and Paul Graham, who helped give eight weeks of free training.
David, who personally coached the 46 amateur boxers, said: “It’s a charity that’s close to everybody’s heart. A lot of people chose to do it to support family members or friends who have suffered.”
"It’s also a great way to step out of your comfort zone.”
Training for the next event begins in January.
