Airfield development edges closer

AFTER Warrington Borough Council approved plans to turn a former airfield site in Appleton into an underground garage with space for 118 vehicles, it would seem all is clear for development work to begin.

But as part of the former Stretton Airfield land borders past land in the council's control, attention has now shifted to a Cheshire East Council meeting.

The meeting, which is believed to be taking place next Wednesday but has yet to be confirmed, will see the authority discuss whether permission over development on parts of its land should be granted.

New kit for pupils

Pupils at Stockton Heath Primary School have been showing off new kits following 'premium funding' distributed to schools across the country from the Government.

As part of the resources, children have been able to pull on the impressive gear during sports sessions, including football and athletics based lessons.

The school has said that the funds have played a crucial role in the development of sport for pupils.

Labour call

THE Labour party took to Stockton Heath to talk to voters about the importance of backing its policies ahead of May's General Election.

Cllr Laurence Murphy (LAB - Stockton Heath) was joined by Warrington South parliamentary candidate Nick Bent, who is preparing for a close battle with his rivals.

Labour's plan to improve the NHS service in the coming years was among the topics discussed.
