WITH last year's centenary commemoration still fresh in the memory, St Thomas' Church in Stockton Heath is doing everything it can to ensure fallen servicemen and women continue to be remembered.

The names of 42 soldiers buried at the parish were put into a book after the combined efforts of parish activist Derek Hill-Wills, Brian Heesom and the Common War Grave Commission in tracking down the crucial information.

With the names now in print for life, the church hopes it will help the names live on for eternity.

"It was nice to have the centenary remembrance last year and a lot of people got involved which was very good to see," said church warden Lynda Heesom.

"The book that was made is still in the church and has gotten good feedback from people who come here.

"It is important to keep on remembering those that lost their lives in the war - we will be discussing plans on that."

A meeting between Lynda and the Rev Michael Ridley, to take place this month, will see plans for the next six months discussed, including ways to help sustain the remembrance for lost soldiers.

"After that we will know more and then let the residents know," added Lynda.
