APPLETON band The Black Circles have hit the studio to begin recording for their debut album.

Former Bridgewater High School pupils Sam Bratley and Martin Saunders, both aged 23, have had a year to remember despite losing drummer Josh Winter last November.

Phil Wilson, aged 27, who is also a producer, is the current session drummer and has helped the blues group gain rave reviews during their tour across the country over the past year.

But following the release of EP From The Top in March, attention now turns to the latest project.

Recording for the album, which commenced on Monday at Sam's home, is set to last two weeks and the frontman admits he has been looking forward to the intense schedule.

The album is due to be released next March and the band wished to thank fans for their continued support.

"We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us since the release of our debut EP From The Top," said the group.

"Whether you've been to see us live, played our songs on your radio station, written about us in a magazine or just spread the word, this album wouldn't be possible without all of that – bring on the blues!"
