TWO managers from the town's Morrisons store have conquered the challenge of a lifetime after completing a 355-mile fundraising cycle from London to Amsterdam.

Deputy manager at the store, on Greenalls Avenue, Dave Lowe, aged 38, and compliance manager Becky Cooper, aged 22, joined colleagues from across the country to tackle the task.

Money raised from the event is going towards strengthening Morrisons' national partnership with health and social care charity Sue Ryder.

The pair set off on October 8 and cycled more than 100 miles each day for three days before arriving in Amsterdam on October 11.

They are hoping to raise over £2,400 towards the Morrisons Raise a Smile partnership, which is funding the expansion of Sue Ryder's end of life care services across the UK.

Dave, from Fearnhead, revealed his delight after completing the feat but admitted it was a demanding couple of days.

He said: "It was a tough journey but a great experience and the feeling when we reached Amsterdam was fantastic.

"The whole team is really proud of what we achieved and we're delighted to have raised so much towards our charity partnership with Sue Ryder."
