The final total comes to more than £970 - more than three times their £300 target — and the club would like to thank everyone who sponsored the youngsters.

Anyone interested in joining the clubs should call 815069 or email dwalker@uawarrington.org.

Trio to embark on shark filming expedition

SPOTTING a shark would normally prompt most people to make a dash for land.

But Peter Holbrook, Peter Coulthard, both of Fearnhead and Glyn Hawes, from Runcorn, will be aiming to get as close as possible when the embark on a week-long diving expedition to film the deadly fish.

The three former members of Warrington sub aqua club group will head to Egypt this week before sailing from Port Ghalib aboard MY Hurricane to video sharks around the offshore reefs of the southern Egyptian Red Sea.

The trip also involves visits to the Brothers Islands and to remote reefs at Daedalus and Elphinestone which the experienced divers have visited before but this time they intend to capture it all on film using the latest GoPro cameras.
