DISCOVER the history of the Lyons Lane Cricket Ground in Appleton in a new book released by Appleton Cricket Club.
The book charts the start of the venue from 1908 when Stockton Heath Cricket Club first played there to when Appleton Cricket Club was created and took over the ground in 1976.
It also delves into the possible Roman occupation of the land, the Lyon family who lives at Appleton Hall and how the ground was used over the years by different clubs.
Copies of the book are available for £4 from Graham Whibley on 263712; from Appleton Cricket Club secretary Alan Rogers on 266316 and from Grappenhall Community Library on 268077.
