Duo climb Africa’s highest peak as part of year-long bid to raise £50,000

TWO members of a team from soft drinks brand Vimto shared their experiences of conquering the highest peak in Africa with the young people they were fundraising for.

James Nichols and Tim Spurr were part of a team of six who tackled Kilimanjaro in the hope of raising more than £25,000 for Warrington Youth Club. The pair shared pictures of the spectacular views and tales from the trek as well as how they worked as a team under difficult conditions to 50 youngsters two days after arriving back in the UK.

James said: “It was great to see the young people enthused and keen to hear about the trek.

“As a company we are supporting Warrington Youth Club throughout 2014, aiming to raise more than £50,000.

“Warrington is not just a youth club in the traditional sense of the word, it inspires these young people, who otherwise may lack the direction, motivation or ambition to move forward and seize opportunities.”

Dave McNicholl, chief executive of Warrington Youth Club, was also part of the trekking team and said it was a great experience.

He added: “We were keen to share how challenging, yet rewarding, it was with members of the youth club.

“As an organisation we aim to provide inspiring and educational activities to motivate and encourage our members.”
