TV and sport stars team up for charity day at cricket club
3:10pm Thursday 12th April 2012 in News
STARS of TV and sport will come together for a charity day at a cricket club in Lymm.
And the event on Sunday, June 3, at Oughtrington Park Cricket Club will also open the club’s new practice facilities.
The fun day will raise money for Help For Heroes and will see stars of Hollyoaks and Coronation Street and footballers face off with an Oughtrington XI in a 20/20.
Fans will also see Anthony Costa, former Blue singer, entertain with a 20-minute set during the innings break.
Andy Kershaw, from the club, said: “In the spirit of the day, this game is intended as entertainment, and none of the participants will be taking things too seriously.”
Children from Oughtrington, Cherry Tree and Ravenbank primary schools will compete in a Kwik Cricket cup while the new practice area will be opened by Warrington South MP David Mowat and Clr Sheila Woodyatt.
There will also be plenty for children to enjoy with stalls, bouncy castle and face painting as well as food.
Prizes in the auction for the day include a morning’s cooking with Michelin-starred Lymm chef Aiden Byrne, corporate tickets to Manchester United and a visit to the Shameless set.
Tickets, priced £5 adults, £3 children and £12 for a family are available.
Corporate places starting at £85 including a champagne and canapés reception and two course lunch by Aiden Byrne.
They are available in Lymm before the day and on the gate.
