WHILE many villagers will be walking through the streets of Grappenhall on Saturday, three residents will be involved in a trek many mile away.

Three friends are taking on a 26-mile walk over tough terrain from Salisbury through Stonehenge to Avebury on a 12-hour challenge.

All three, who are keen dog walkers, are raising money for individual charities.

Suzanne Robertson instigated the walk last August, as she wanted to do something to help alzheimers which is a charity close to her heart.

She said: “I’m not a runner, never have been even when fit as a fiddle.

“However, walking a marathon is challenging but possible, and training will be much more fun with my daft dog Connor by my side.”

Jenny Marsh joined forces with Suzanne, as her father was diagnosed with vascular dementia.

“Nearly everyone knows the work of Macmillan Nurses, but I want to raise awareness of the Admiral Nurses who provide care and advice for dementia sufferers and their families.

“Max my Spaniel has loved the walks and could cover the distance on a daily basis.”

Sylvia Hulse was the last to join.

She said: “Raising money for the PANDAS foundation which supports every individual with pre (antenatal), post natal depression or psychosis in England and Wales “.

Lola, her chocolate Labrador, has kept Sylvia company on many of the training walks.

All three have set up online donation pages. They are: justgiving.com/SuzanneRobertson, justgiving.com/Jenny-Marsh virginmoneygiving.com/SylviaHulse.
