FIFTY years of Thelwall Rose Queen will be celebrated on Saturday.

The popular festival will crown Eva Lavender-Callow as rose queen on a day themed gold to mark the anniversary.

The procession starts at the earlier time of 1.30pm from Thelwall Parish Hall and this year’s Rose Queen will be joined by many of the former queens, who have been invited to celebrate the anniversary.

Eva, a year seven pupil at Kings Leadership Academy in Woolston, said: “I am very excited to be the Thelwall Rose Queen especially as it is the 50th anniversary this year.”

The main arena attraction on Chaigeley School is the Batala Samba Band and there will be a dog show staged by the RSPCA.

Anyone who can help should e-mail thelwallrosequeen@ gmail.com or just turn up on the field on the Saturday morning.
