AN action plan has been penned to help boost trade in Lymm.

Lymm Traders held a meeting last month to see how they can improve the number of people visiting the village and encourage people to shop in Lymm.

Concerns have been voiced that since the parking charges were brought in and trade has been hit.

Among the suggestions was to improve signage, hold a business of the year contest and enquire about bringing a taxi rank into the centre of Lymm.

Suggestions also included allowing shops to use the pavements more to boost trade, asking students from Lymm High School to help with marketing and speaking to the council about the Thursday Market.

Members of Lymm Parish Council discussed the issue at the latest meeting this month.

Clr Ian Marks is preparing to publish an historic features guide to Lymm while Clr Su Williams is publishing a Lure of Lymm guide to try to encourage visitors from outside the village to attend.

And the parish council agreed to give a grant of £200 to the Lymm in Bloom organisation to plant more flowers.

Councillors were also told work should soon be starting on the Cross, with more investigation needed on the section close to the Sainsbury’s.

And finally, planning permission has been granted for work to start on the Jubilee Walkway which links the lower dam to the Dingle.
