A PADGATE student has been recognised for her efforts in encouraging other youngsters to read.
Jade Schofield, aged 16, has been picked by the Reading Agency as its reading activist of the year.
The teenager, who completed her GCSEs at University Academy Warrington this summer, has been involved at Padgate Library, Insall Road, for several years.
Jade said: “I wasn't expecting to do something for fun and then win something for doing it.”
Chris Everett, reading activist project leader, said: “Jade is honest with her opinions. She enjoys reading and frequently tells other reading activists about books she has enjoyed.”
Also a talented writer, Jade had a short story published in anthology Head in the Clouds.
